Reiki for Infants and Babies

August 2, 2015 by Linda Crane Leave a Comment

Infants photoThe calming effect of Reiki is great for all infants and babies, but especially for preemies and newborns with special needs.

Calming Colic and Providing Restful Sleep

Every newborn is unique and special. Even after just a week of life, some babies show early signs of stress, such as fussiness or colic. While infant stress may seem harmless at first glance, continuous anxiety at such a young age may create disharmony and imbalance that can negatively affect a growing bundle of joy.

Offering a Welcoming Environment

Parents of newborns especially in tune with their babies’ needs on all levels but some may be shy about telling others that their infant seems stressed. Moms and dads may worry that a practitioner thinks the parents are projecting their own stress onto the baby, or that the new parents are just imagining the newborns’ anxiety. Reiki practitioners create a welcoming environment, one that allows parents to express their concerns and seek healing therapy for their bundles of joy.

Babies are Receptive to Energy Therapy

Babies are open to energy flow. Unlike adults conditioned to fear or reject innovative approaches to healing, infants have not developed the emotional defenses that can block Reiki. They are beautifully receptive to energy therapy. Because of this openness, a short Reiki session is all most babies need – 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the baby’s needs.

Benefits of Reiki for Infants and Babies

Some babies experience Reiki for the first time in a hospital’s neonatal ICU, as a way to reduce the stress associated with pain, sickness, and the constant drone of respirators, IVs, and other medical equipment. Reiki is especially helpful for preemies, especially those that are on life support or are too fragile to be held. Reiki can help these tiniest patients relax, improving their ability to cope with the stress of being hospitalized for the first few precious days of life.

Reiki can help:

  • Babies sleep longer, more restfully
  • Soothe a baby with colic
  • Ease teething pain
  • Hasten recovery from a cold

Reiki may also assist in reversing failure to thrive and weight gain problems as once-fussy babies shake off stress, sleep better, and become calmer, happier babies.

Babies can benefit greatly from Reiki treatments, and so do their families. There is a feeling of helplessness when there is a sick baby crying at home or in the ICU. Reiki comforts babies to reduce crying and fussing in a way that quiets the house and calms distraught parents. Simply watching a baby relax under the touch of Reiki can soothe the entire family. Babies are extraordinarily perceptive of parental stress and respond positively when they see their parents relax.

Reiki for New Parents

Being a new parent, or a first-time parent, can be especially stressful. Lack of sleep and constant focus can add stress to the happy time as new parents navigate the waters of caring for their tiny shining stars. Reiki for new parents can be quite a needed treat for them. A Reiki session makes a great gift for stressed newbies or seasoned new parents after the stork arrives. A Reiki session makes a great gift and can be arranged with a Reiki Practitioner or via a gift certificate.

Reiki for Fragile or Sickly Infants and Babies.

A practitioner can administer Reiki while holding the baby or by standing near enough to the incubator to send energy to the child. Distant Reiki is appropriate for any baby too fragile to hold. The practitioner can also transfer loving energy through to baby’s blanket, bed, or sleepwear to help the child sleep. As the child grows stronger, she may begin receiving gentle hands-on sessions.

Chakra harmonizing is especially helpful for preemies and other babies who had a rough start in life. The trauma and stress of being a sick baby could result in an imbalance of survival, emotions, will, relationships, communication, creativity, and spirituality chakras. Reiki restores chakra harmony and general healthy energy flow.

A specific healing session is helpful for babies who have experienced pain or other blocks to the energy field. Specific healing re-establishes proper energy flow to stimulate healing in that area. Past healing also helps heal these wounds in a way that allows the baby to overcome these injuries and embark on their new positive life journey.

Reiki allows infants to focus on the serious business of being happy, healthy little bundles of joy.  And helps parents to enjoy this special time in their lives even more by reducing stress and by allowing them to focus on what is really important – raising their beautiful growing family.

Reiki for Pets and Animals

Out of Sorts Cat or Dog?  Reiki to the Rescue!

Progressive and forward thinking humans all over the world are fans of the practice of Reiki, a system of holistic energy healing. Within the last decade, however, the use of animal Reiki among animal rescues, behaviorists, pet owners, and veterinarians has skyrocketed.

What Exactly is Pet Reiki?

Reiki, which originated with a lay monk in Japan, is based on spiritual energy. All things, its advocates believe, are made of energy. The practice of Reiki involves energy traveling through the hands of a practitioner through a subject’s energy pathways and centers, then through the whole body.

Those who practice Reiki usually don’t refer to themselves as healers. This is because this holistic practice involves creating an energetic space that fosters a subject’s self-healing. It’s also possible for people to treat themselves.

Reiki is ideal for pets because it is gentle and noninvasive. The practice never harms an animal. Animal Reiki doesn’t require physical contact. It corrects energy imbalances in an animal’s body and can even occur from a distance. A cat or dog session usually lasts 15 to 30 minutes.

What’s in it for Animals?

Reiki for cats and dogs offers benefits to both sick and well animals. It can:

  • Strengthen an animal’s immune system before cancer treatment
  • Speed healing after sickness or surgery
  • Promote relaxation and reduce stress to solve behavioral problems
  • Relieve pain
  • Provide comfort for terminally ill pets, as well as owners
  • Enhance a pet’s overall well-being
  • Increase the pet-owner bond

Veterinarians intrigued by the possibilities of pet Reiki are adding it as an adjunct therapy. Used in conjunction with conventional medicine, it can result in a speedier recovery and saves owners considerable cost and anxiety.

A Success Story

Opting for pet Reiki was a resounding success for the owner of a sick 15-year-cat. The feline contracted calicivirus, then developed a severe nasal discharge. Lethargic and frail, it wasn’t eating or drinking. The cat’s owner arranged for a distance Reiki treatment. Toward the end of the first session, the cat got up and ate the first food she had consumed in days. After additional sessions, she showed a higher energy level and appeared stronger overall, thanks to Reiki.

Many practitioners may also practice on our four-legged family members.  Linda Crane is a Reiki Teacher/Practitioner.  I enjoy working with your pets and other animals.  animals respond well to the energy of Reiki. You can look at the testimonials on my website www.lindacrane.com.

Gratitude Can Have Deep Positive Affects On Health

January 9, 2015 by Linda Crane Leave a Comment

Since we are what we eat and what we think…here are some ways to enrich your life and health in this New Year.  It’s all about your energy and how you use it, because everything is made up of vibrations of energy.  Although energy is  unseen (meaning its not a thing you can go to the store and buy, nor is the energy of Love for that matter); yet it is certainly palpable and you can feel its affects. It’s about time and wise for each of us to get in touch with what energies we are taking in…and giving out…especially now in the 21 Century.

Five Contemplations Before Eating:

  1. 1)  This food is a gift of the earth, the sky, numerous living beings, and much hard and loving work.
  2. 2)  May we eat with mindfulness and gratitude so as to be worthy to receive this food.
  3. 3)  May we recognize and transform unskillful states of mind, especially our greed and learn to eat with moderation.
  4. 4)  May we keep our compassion alive by
eating in such a way that reduces the suffering of living beings, stops contributing to climate change, and heals and preserves our precious planet.
  5. 5)  We accept this food so that we may nurture our brotherhood and sisterhood, build our community, and nourish our ideal of serving all living beings.– Recited before meals in Thich Nhat Hanh’s Order of Interbeing, a Buddhist community that spans the globe

Eat in Gratitude and Thanksgiving:

Since researchers have concluded that expressing gratitude can have deep and positive effects on your health, we suggest that you may want to find ways to bring thankfulness into your preparation and eating of food. When you sit down to eat, whether by yourself or with others, you can take a moment to reflect on the gifts of food in front of you, the effort that went into bringing it to your table, and the blessings that abound with eating healthy meals.

The saying of grace is, at least in its original intent:
A way of connecting to our sense of gratitude and kinship with life. It is a means of caring for ourselves. It is a way to slow down, to relax, to let go of the busy-ness and worries of the day, and to be open to the food we’re about to receive.

It enables us to acknowledge and bond with the others with whom we are sharing the meal. It is a way to join with them, and all the people and elements that have made our meal possible, in a spirit of appreciation. It is not so much the words we say, as the state of mind and heart we evoke, that is important. It is a way to honor the deep human need to express our common unity in the mystery of life.   John Robbins

Easy Tips For Physical And Mental De-Stress

October 6, 2014 by Linda Crane 2 Comments

Stop “trying” to eat healthfully START doing it 100%.  Why? because “trying” to do something can be stressful.  Feeling good and healthy is a large part of  “Living The Good Life”.  We learn about this when we aren’t feeling well.  Not eating well causes us to struggle mentally and physically. Eventually we will have to get more creative to regain what we may lose from less healthy habits. This can cause that emotional roller-coaster which produces fatigue and feeling drained from those highs and low’s. By choosing more healthy foods to keep your life on a better even track,  you can meet challenges in your daily life more “easily and stress free” to accomplish your goals.  Less stress and more peaceful living is of great value for experiencing more happiness each day.

“Easy Tips” for Physical and Mental De-Stress Each Day.

On the physical health side: It’s known that we are products of our environment, our thoughts and our habits.  “Think a thought, sow an act…Sow an act, reap the habit,…Sow the habit, reap the character,… Sow the character, reap the destiny.” (Ralph Waldo Emerson)

I like Dr. Joel Fuhrman M.D. and agree with what he says about eating nutritiously for health:

“This will take strength and effort, but the pleasure and rewards will be priceless”!

1.  “Go Cruciferous“!   Cruciferous vegetables are your best defense for fighting cancer!                     Examples: broccoli, cauliflower, kale, brussel sprouts, cabbage, bok choy, arugula, collard greens, daikon, mustard greens, kohlrabi, radishes, rutabaga, turnips, watercress.

2.  Salad is the main dish – and the secret to successful weight control and a long healthy life.

3.  Low-nutrient foods fuel overeating behavior – “Flood Your Cells With Nutrients”!

4.  Eat For Health…put an end to type II diabetes or heart disease – and get off medications!             Dr. Joel Fuhrman M.D.

For Mental De-Stressing:

Take a “5 Minute Fix of silence and quiet” to enhance your mental focus and happiness. Give your brain a chance to be off duty…by inviting more quiet into your busy life. This will assist you in being more productive while making healthier decisions.

If you lose those moments to de-stress then you also lose the chance to process and integrate things you have learned… heard… and done.  Helpful ideas show up when you turn off the noise.  Many people get good insights when taking a bath or while taking a shower without any distractions.

You’ll discover as I did that without distractions; you will have more space to think, relax, brainstorm, and enhance your ability to move toward achieving those things that make you feel happy.

The Following Points Are Helpful For Me:

1. Turn down the volume and stop living with chronic noise.

These are some small changes that give my brain the opportunity to focus and reflect, so I can make healthier decisions. When we turn down the volume we can tune into another person and experience a connection in a relationship that we can’t get from a life awash with noise, chatter, and distractions.

2. Take regular breaks from social media just 5 minutes at a time helps to allow more quiet time into my life. This helps me to be calmer and more energetic.

Constant noise around us adds to the rise of blood pressure and it affects how well we remember things too.  Studies on quiet and the brain show that in a noisy environment (ex: a crowded restaurant) affect short term memory in that it becomes overloaded, because the brain circuitry that processes recall and speech is the same one that handles noise.  Ever notice that when you are driving and you become lost you’re likely to turn down the volume on the radio?  That’s because when it’s noisy in your environment it’s tougher to concentrate and find your way.  It works the same way for trying to find your way in life…when there are too many distractions it’s harder to focus, plan properly, and delays occur for coming up with the right solutions.

If you are usually distracted by TV, background noise, or a vibrating cell phone, you miss out on your brain being off duty.  Usually when my brain is quiet I come up with those great hunches. When your brain is constantly going it is much harder to process what you have learned,  you are less attentive to what you have heard, what you have done, and your recall is not as sharp.

3. When less distracted and less stressed you’re more likely to keep up positive habits.  Here are a few ways to invest in calmness:

When you are first driving out in your car wait 5 minutes before turning on the radio.

Instead of flipping on the TV right away you can choose what to read by getting your news on line.  It’s better than being forced to process all the days distressing range of stories to watch and fear.

The following has never failed me for decades.  This is my knowing that has become my personal program so I don’t have to tune into the media hype all the time.  You may want to try my approach.  Be positive and consistent with this for it to work for you as well.

I just know and believe,  that I will find out everything I need to know… at just the right time I need to know it…and will be able to do whatever I have to do… with plenty of time to do it.

4.  Set Boundaries for yourself.  Example: Refrain from checking your phone during meals.  You’ll digest your food much better.  Without constant threats of interruptions your more inclined to do something productive for your brain like daydream to invent design your present and future.

5. Meditate which is about quieting the mind and helps you to get inspired.  In order to have new fresh ideas come to you…give your mind calm quiet moments.  Take deep…relaxing…slow…belly breathes in through your nose…and out through your mouth…to experience calmness, and feel more centered. This will enhance your health and focus.

And when you are eating foods packed with nutrients, and include the mental habits to achieve happiness and calm; you’ll become more inspired and productive. Your brain will love it too.

Life’s small moments can only add up to something more meaningful when you give yourself the chance to reflect on them!

Creating Balance In Your Live

September 23, 2014 by Linda Crane Leave a Comment

Working to create Balance in your live is not always easy and can cause a challenge.  So here’s something to ponder for today, the Autumnal Equinox, and also throughout this Fall Season.

“If you believe that something is good, and you do it, it benefits you. If you believe that something is bad, and you do it, it is a very detrimental experience.”
…Abraham

What you would consider really good or bad…harmful or beneficial from my point of view, comes from your definition of what’s good or bad that makes it so.  Previous experiences in our lives and subconscious thinking do play a big part as to what we think is good or bad.

It is always our beliefs about something that rewards us or betrays us.  The input from our feeling nature and emotions are our guide, our barometer, as to how we respond. Go with your gut feeling, that sense that tells you I shouldn’t do that, or I should go for it. If it feels happy and good, then give it energy.  If the red flags of fear or inappropriateness rise, then withdraw your focus and energy away from it,  for in some manner of speaking it will bring a return of an experience we will not like.

If you are feeling that calling to get some support and get back into balance in any area of your life… then the Bach Flower Remedies and Energy Balance sessions are just the right things to consider to get you going in a positive direction.

Now is a great time to make your personal appointment and get back on track again Naturally!
