Reiki for Pets and Animals

Out of Sorts Cat or Dog?  Reiki to the Rescue!

Progressive and forward thinking humans all over the world are fans of the practice of Reiki, a system of holistic energy healing. Within the last decade, however, the use of animal Reiki among animal rescues, behaviorists, pet owners, and veterinarians has skyrocketed.

What Exactly is Pet Reiki?

Reiki, which originated with a lay monk in Japan, is based on spiritual energy. All things, its advocates believe, are made of energy. The practice of Reiki involves energy traveling through the hands of a practitioner through a subject’s energy pathways and centers, then through the whole body.

Those who practice Reiki usually don’t refer to themselves as healers. This is because this holistic practice involves creating an energetic space that fosters a subject’s self-healing. It’s also possible for people to treat themselves.

Reiki is ideal for pets because it is gentle and noninvasive. The practice never harms an animal. Animal Reiki doesn’t require physical contact. It corrects energy imbalances in an animal’s body and can even occur from a distance. A cat or dog session usually lasts 15 to 30 minutes.

What’s in it for Animals?

Reiki for cats and dogs offers benefits to both sick and well animals. It can:

  • Strengthen an animal’s immune system before cancer treatment
  • Speed healing after sickness or surgery
  • Promote relaxation and reduce stress to solve behavioral problems
  • Relieve pain
  • Provide comfort for terminally ill pets, as well as owners
  • Enhance a pet’s overall well-being
  • Increase the pet-owner bond

Veterinarians intrigued by the possibilities of pet Reiki are adding it as an adjunct therapy. Used in conjunction with conventional medicine, it can result in a speedier recovery and saves owners considerable cost and anxiety.

A Success Story

Opting for pet Reiki was a resounding success for the owner of a sick 15-year-cat. The feline contracted calicivirus, then developed a severe nasal discharge. Lethargic and frail, it wasn’t eating or drinking. The cat’s owner arranged for a distance Reiki treatment. Toward the end of the first session, the cat got up and ate the first food she had consumed in days. After additional sessions, she showed a higher energy level and appeared stronger overall, thanks to Reiki.

Many practitioners may also practice on our four-legged family members.  Linda Crane is a Reiki Teacher/Practitioner.  I enjoy working with your pets and other animals.  animals respond well to the energy of Reiki. You can look at the testimonials on my website www.lindacrane.com.

Reiki and Chronic Pain

Reiki and Chronic Pain: Can Reiki Help the Chronic Pain Epidemic?

Reiki and Chronic Pain: Can Reiki Help Heal the Chronic Pain Epidemic?
Reiki and the Chronic Pain Epidemic

Chronic pain affects more than 100 million Americans, according to a report released by the Institute of Medicine. Another 10 million people suffer from pain on a near-daily basis in Britain, according to The British Pain Society. Those numbers are just for two countries. Imagine what the worldwide numbers are. There is no doubt, then, that chronic pain is a global epidemic that affects millions of lives.

Chronic Pain: Definition and Costs

Defined as pain that lasts longer than three to six months, chronic pain has become one of the most common reasons for seeking medical attention. In the same report, the Institute of Medicine found that, as of February 2014, chronic pain cost the healthcare system an estimated $635 billion each year. Most people who suffer from chronic pain are prescribed pain medications. Increasingly, however, alternative solutions like Reiki have also proven helpful. There is still a lot of confusion and lack of education regarding chronic pain, so understanding it is the first step in deciding on choosing the best treatment.

Pain Relief with Reiki

Understanding Chronic Pain and Its Effects on the Body

Some individuals think of chronic pain as acute pain that does not subside. This definition, however, does not quite capture its wide range of manifestations. Chronic pain is a blanket term, but not everyone who suffers from it will have comparable symptoms. According to WebMD, chronic pain may be mild or excruciating. It can also occur continuously or sporadically. While the pain may merely inconvenience some people, others may be completely incapacitated by the pain.

Chronic pain is often described as “burning,” “shooting,” “electrical,” or “aching,” and it can be accompanied by stiffness, soreness, tightness, and discomfort. Over time, it can lead to fatigue, moodiness, or sleeplessness. The source of a sufferer’s chronic pain can be difficult to pinpoint, since a variety of diseases may contribute. It may linger from an old injury, accompany the natural aging process, or even come from poor posture.

But chronic pain can do much more than just interfere with normal, day-to-day life. Researchers at Northwestern University found that it can shrink the brain by 11%, effectively speeding up the brain’s aging process by 10 or 20 years. The effects of chronic pain can also create a vicious cycle. With time, the affected nerves become more sensitive, to the point where even the touch of a feather can be painful.

Pain Medications Are Only Part of the Solutions

For many sufferers of chronic pain, medications can help the pain. For other patients, pain medications may not be the best alternative. For example, for many patients, painkillers may interfere with other medications. Despite their proven results, pain medications should not be the only solution considered when attempting to assuage chronic pain. Medication is only one of several alternatives to treating chronic pain.

Pain Relief Alternatives

Moving around more is the last thing that many chronic pain sufferers would think to do. Despite sounding counter-intuitive, consistent exercise is one of the most effective ways to prevent chronic pain, regardless of age. A Norwegian study from 2011 looked at 46,533 adults and found that the incidence of chronic pain among young and middle-aged individuals who exercised was 10-12% lower. Exercisers who were 65 years of age or older showed even better results.

The Chinese method of acupuncture may also help. A study from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Institute in New York, as well as other studies from 2009 and 2010, found that real acupuncture is more effective at relieving pain than no acupuncture or “sham” acupuncture. This finding seems to rule out the placebo effect that many cite when discussing acupuncture. Some researchers think acupuncture provides relief by reorganizing nerve pathways and releasing adenosine, which is one of the body’s natural painkillers.

Reiki and Chronic Pain…Could it Help?

In addition to other natural, non-invasive therapies, Reiki is becoming an increasingly popular option. Since Reiki is being offered in more private practices, hospices, and hospitals, more patients can benefit from the treatment than ever before.

According to AltMD, beyond signaling a physical problem, chronic pain can also stem from psychological and emotional disturbances. Reiki can resolve them by allowing healing energy to flow freely. The result is reduced pain and tension, as well as feelings of relaxation and rejuvenation. Unlike most other treatments, Reiki is a multi-purposed method that can heal both physical and emotional ailments. Through Reiki, some patients suffering from pain due to cancer, injury, or psychological or emotional distress have found relief where other methods were not successful.

Growing Evidence in Reiki Research

Some small studies have been conducted to determine the effectiveness of Reiki. They suggest that patients may use Reiki to find relief from not only the physical aspects of chronic pain, but also the anxiety that often comes with it. According to an article from the University of Minnesota, several studies found that Reiki treatments seem to relax patients, reduce fatigue and depression, and strengthen a person’s overall sense of wellbeing.

According to an article by Anthony Schifano on the National Fibromyalgia and Chronic Pain Association’s website, Reiki sessions have brought relief and helped individuals feel more balanced. He writes that patients who received Reiki treatment experienced “total relaxation, less tense muscles, and improvement in their range of motion.” One patient who suffered with fibromyalgia pain for years was able to stop taking pain-relieving medications after starting regular Reiki treatments.

Increasing Awareness in the Medical Community

Medical practitioners and patients, as well as researchers, are becoming more aware of the real and lasting proven effects of Reiki when it comes to treating chronic pain. Reiki succeeds because it works on a deeper level, influencing the flow of healing energy that promotes a sense of balance and leads to pain relief in patients suffering from chronic pain from a variety of conditions. Ongoing research and testimonials from patients have shown that an integrative, individualized approach works best. Chronic pain and its accompanying treatments are still being researched; Reiki is crucial for this research. When discussing chronic pain, combining medication with exercise, acupuncture, and Reiki may potentially bring about the highest level of pain relief.

Clarifying To Transcend And To Transmute

May 26, 2015 by Linda Crane Leave a Comment

peacefulness photoI’ve been asked questions to clarify the terms to transcend and to transmute and tips for applying them in your life?  These words hold different meaning yet they get used interchangeably.

Transmuting is a chemical change that takes place, a total change, a total chemical change that takes place in the body and you become a different person, a different being.

When you transcend something you go through it from one experience to the next. And transcendental work is when you go from one step to the next step, to the next step, to the next step.

But when something is transmuted there’s a complete alchemy, a total change into a totally different being.

Transcending is not taking an over-view about things.  Transcending is when you go from step to step. You go higher and higher. But transmuting is when you do it all at once.

What happens chemically in the transmutation process?   The brain chemical changes to begin with. The brain cells, they seem to all of a sudden take on a new reality and they become the total servant of the mind. They no longer have their programming. All the programming disappears. The eons of programming, the past, is dead. It becomes totally annihilated, and you become a new person, an expansive person.

Is this purely a chemical change?  It’s a chemical change in the beginning.  Is it both chemical and spiritual?  Really it’s the same thing. The brain surrenders to the mind, so-to-speak. The entire programming of the brain gives up to the mind…lets go.  All the circuits become unusable.  It also affects the body too.  There’s no substantialness to it at all.  Yes. It has no substance. That’s transmutation.

People have said to me, There are many times when I remember something, yet I don’t know if it happened yesterday, or if it happened twenty years ago, or if it happened many life times ago. But sometimes certain things come to me and I wonder where they came from. Everything becomes combined and becomes one.

Do you just ignore them when they arise? When they occur just watch them. Watch them going past? Be the witness to your thoughts.

One of the beatitudes says, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God,” If the heart is the center of the being, and if it’s pure, there are no contaminants in it, and the contaminants in the heart would be any thought, and if there’s no thought, at that point God can be experienced, and then we have to go into what that phrase “blessed are the pure in heart” means? It would mean pure consciousness, or Atman, or Brahman or whatever other word might be put to the ultimate reality.

Actually what the Beatitude means is when you are pure in heart you are one with God. You become the absolute reality.

I question. It would be nice…Except it’s already so!!  Is that not correct? It is correct!

People say, I have a hard time relating to this, but would the real Me be the Self? The real You is the Self! This is a truth. Which means it is unchangeable. It is a reality we can grasp and realize about ourselves.

Then how would you see me?  I would see you as energy and as part of the oneness of all things?  As spirit, as reality!

Something in me would have grasped you as the real person, as the real you within, which is myself. A person awakens, because you become what you saw. The Real Truth, seeing everyone as the God Within.

And that really changes the course of humanity…one person at a time to the tipping point!

‘The past, present and future are projected from the stateless quiet state, the transcendental. You start to witness what is going on, without getting hooked into the play, the drama of your life.  You begin to ask to whom do these thoughts come?  Then answer…they come to me.  Well who am I?  In asking and often re-asking these questions each day; we start to see the truth and the illusions of reality. I have a body, but I’m not my body, I’m not my thoughts, and I’m not my emotions. I am greater than these.  In the quiet state you can gain perspective and awareness about your life.

You  become the witness to your thoughts instead of reacting to your thoughts all the time. You start to see these thoughts as on a cinema screen and you’re not affected by all the daily negativity.  The goal is to center in the heart to gain peace, and in that quietness of heart, and from self inquiry, (to whom do these thoughts come); you can obtain the answers to make the correct moves for your life.

A heart guided approach is always superior to the minds answers to your questions. If you’ve been asking your mind for answers…and if your mind knew all the answers you seek, wouldn’t you have gotten the answers you been searching for by now?  In order to experience the Divine answers; which are inside of you, you have to be out of the realm of the mind…thinking, into consciousness, pure awareness.

It takes retraining, patience, and a desire to make the mind quiet.  But you are the boss of your mind!  You have forgotten that you are in charge…and you let the mind take over too often, when heart centered actions would give you the best outcomes with less stress.

The choice of transcending and transmuting comes to each of us. You have opportunities to leap forward no matter what’s going on in your life right now.

In Clarity,

Spontaneity

April 18, 2015 by Linda Crane Leave a Comment

Spontaneity is your point of power!

in the flow photo

Here’s An Empowering Thought:

God/Infinite Intelligence, doesn’t do-do overs.                                                               God doesn’t repeat Itself.                                                                                                God doesn’t make mistakes!

God creates through Its ONENESS with you.  God creates through Its Infinite Nature…Its Uniqueness.

How available are you to your Spiritual nature?

Spontaneity doesn’t mean you have to do something fast! It’s more about clarity of thought and you get an idea or an inspiration to do something and you just act on it.  This may lead to a seeing, or knowing, or feeling, or all 3, and one thing after another just moves forward to accomplish something in a certain direction, and you are on the path. You find that the pieces, the steps, the parts, that you require form and gel into place. There is also an energy of lightness while moving forward with the way you are responding.

We are all unique expressions of the Infinite.  It’s up to us to tap into that infinite potential and express it. When we tap into that Infinite Potential we act spontaneously. You just find yourself doing something without having to put  much thought on it.  You find yourself being it, and actively moving on it.  When this occurs it becomes a WOW…just so easy, and your life, your something, your uniqueness, is in the flow Effortlessly!

This blog came to me in a flash today and I found myself going over to the computer and writing it out for you just as it came my way.

May your co-creative connection be in a harmonious flow with Spontaneity!!

Blessings,

Linda Crane

Gratitude Can Have Deep Positive Affects On Health

January 9, 2015 by Linda Crane Leave a Comment

Since we are what we eat and what we think…here are some ways to enrich your life and health in this New Year.  It’s all about your energy and how you use it, because everything is made up of vibrations of energy.  Although energy is  unseen (meaning its not a thing you can go to the store and buy, nor is the energy of Love for that matter); yet it is certainly palpable and you can feel its affects. It’s about time and wise for each of us to get in touch with what energies we are taking in…and giving out…especially now in the 21 Century.

Five Contemplations Before Eating:

  1. 1)  This food is a gift of the earth, the sky, numerous living beings, and much hard and loving work.
  2. 2)  May we eat with mindfulness and gratitude so as to be worthy to receive this food.
  3. 3)  May we recognize and transform unskillful states of mind, especially our greed and learn to eat with moderation.
  4. 4)  May we keep our compassion alive by
eating in such a way that reduces the suffering of living beings, stops contributing to climate change, and heals and preserves our precious planet.
  5. 5)  We accept this food so that we may nurture our brotherhood and sisterhood, build our community, and nourish our ideal of serving all living beings.– Recited before meals in Thich Nhat Hanh’s Order of Interbeing, a Buddhist community that spans the globe

Eat in Gratitude and Thanksgiving:

Since researchers have concluded that expressing gratitude can have deep and positive effects on your health, we suggest that you may want to find ways to bring thankfulness into your preparation and eating of food. When you sit down to eat, whether by yourself or with others, you can take a moment to reflect on the gifts of food in front of you, the effort that went into bringing it to your table, and the blessings that abound with eating healthy meals.

The saying of grace is, at least in its original intent:
A way of connecting to our sense of gratitude and kinship with life. It is a means of caring for ourselves. It is a way to slow down, to relax, to let go of the busy-ness and worries of the day, and to be open to the food we’re about to receive.

It enables us to acknowledge and bond with the others with whom we are sharing the meal. It is a way to join with them, and all the people and elements that have made our meal possible, in a spirit of appreciation. It is not so much the words we say, as the state of mind and heart we evoke, that is important. It is a way to honor the deep human need to express our common unity in the mystery of life.   John Robbins

Perfect Example of Solar Eclipse Mercury Retrograde

October 24, 2014 by Linda Crane Leave a Comment

Blessings Everyone!

Yesterday I sent out my Blog on what to expect from “The Solar Eclipse New Moon is Scorpio and Mercury Retrograde”.  Many of you tried to open my blog and email on this subject and it didn’t work. I’ve got to laugh and keep it lighthearted. I was surprised but it’s a confirmation on how things happen during these timings. The good news is the blog appears to be working now.  If you have deleted the email but wanted to check it out…it’s now posted on my homepage www.lindacrane.com for your review.

The Solar Eclipse New Moon In Scorpio

October 22, 2014 by Linda Crane Leave a Comment

solareclipse photoNew Moons are the beginnings of cycles.  A Solar Eclipse as seen from the Earth is a type of eclipse that occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, and the Moon fully or partially blocks the Sun.  On Thursday, October 23, 2014,  at 5:57 pm EST, the Moon is in its New Moon phase, with the Partial Solar Eclipse in Scorpio.

The Sun in your Astrological chart refers to your goals and your purpose, your main sense of importance, and what you are trying to do in the world.  During full or partial Eclipses relates to being overshadowed in some way, because your light may feel that it is being blocked out from its full expression in some way.

On October 23, 2014, what will occur is a New Moon phase Solar Eclipse in the sign of Scorpio.  It’s an important time that can have far reaching insights. Where ever Scorpio is in your Astrological chart is the area where this will be most effective for hopes of change in a positive direction. If you don’t know your astrological chart, there are still some important insights about your life you may observe over the next 6 months. Energies of Eclipses last for a 6 month period. The flavoring of the sign of Scorpio will give you indications to what you can experience.

Life is all about how we use our energy, grow, change and transform, into a better higher version of ourselves.  In spiritual understanding you can change now or change later because of your own free will, but evolution will happen; because it is the only game in town so to speak, while living here on Gaia Mother Earth.  This planet is known to be a teacher of cause and effect, in that sense you can call it school house Earth.

To get a fuller picture of this timing, here’s some insights on the sign Scorpio itself.

Scorpio is a deep astrological sign. It has determination.  It is a water sign.  I consider water to be the strongest element of the four elements of fire, earth, air and water. Water is truly a force to be reckoned with, and is truly life giving, and amazing. Water puts out fire, can drown the earth or nourish it, when water mixes with the air we can have immense storms.  When it comes to Scorpio we can use the expression ‘still waters run deep’. In the sign of Scorpio things can be more hidden and reflective. Scorpio is not an open book. There are deep feelings associated with this sign.

Scorpio is also a fixed water sign. Meaning Scorpio tendencies are not prone to changing things easily unless it wants to, or feels ready to change.  Scorpio has to do with birthing something, out with the old and in with the new, endings, regeneration, renewal, and transformation.  Endings that transpire with Scorpio cycles, you can say will be done and over with.  Things most likely will not go back to the way they were before.  Things can die out to their natural end conclusions.

Sometimes they are happy endings sometimes they are not. It all depends where you are at in your life, and what is going on for you now.  If you have been waiting a long time to make that change that has been held within, and has not come to the surface yet… this timing can assist you. It’s a great time to make  changes for the better. Renew, rebirth, and regenerate yourself in any area that just has not been working for you.

New Moons are beginning phases. They are not yet out in the open to see all of its results as at the time of a full Moon. Solar Eclipses can be reality shaking and in deep digging Scorpio can expose any detrimental patterns to come up and clear. Our emotions gives the fuel to shift realities in new energies. We are mirrors for ourselves. “As within so without, as above so below.”  What we send out comes back to us.  This is what’s meant by cause and effect.

Scorpio is a force for change at the hidden depths of yourself that can bring the ‘Light’ back into your life.  I’m focusing on the positive that this timing can bring over the next 6 months.  The negative side of things can also come forth from clinging to actions put forth that have not been working.  We will have to face change sometime sooner or later if not now, and it can be more difficult then because of increased added baggage. It’s safer to complain and be the victim, to point our fingers at the injustices.  It’s safer to complain than to change.  So eclipses and most other planetary influences keep nudging us along, changing for us what we won’t change for ourselves. Instead of digging our heels in when it comes to change… you could allow the changes necessary to happen instead of making change do it for you. That’s never comfortable.

We are all asked at this timing to do our inner work on any level and in any area of our lives to birth something positive.  The old thoughts that have grown cobwebs are no longer helping you along to a happier life. It’s up to each one of us because we were gifted with Free Will by the Creator.

This week Oct 20-26, 2014, sociable, friendly, peace loving Venus, and the Life giving Sun, will also be in Scorpio.  Mercury that has so much to do with all types of communication has been retrograde.  Mercury will be making its Direct motion forward. Mercury Retrograde is great for reviewing, researching, meditating, exploring inner growth, writing, journaling, completing tasks.  Mercury is going forward.  We’ve spent enough time reviewing. Its time to take what you know  and go forward.

Eclipses mark change! Understanding where and how you need to make changes is key to rising above adversity. Here are some intense influences that can arise to be cleared:  Betrayal, abandonment, getting in touch with your sexuality, power and control issues, trust issues, negative feelings with intense passion, suspicion, secrets coming to the surface, understanding where and how you need to make change   Scorpio energy can be counted on to expose the truth. Any loose ends need to be cleared up. This is the time we can cut out those things, situations, or people, from our lives with discernment and move on.

During the next 6 months you may notice you have the ability to see clearly the heart of the matter before you. Dropping the baggage will be a relief.  Your relationships may intensify. That topic may take center stage.  With intense Scorpio energy there is no middle ground. No maybe’s about it. Things are rather clear cut with Scorpio. It takes a lot of fortitude, backbone, grit, if you’re a loyal person to get to the point of dropping unhealthy situations.  A clearing is possible now to rebirth any part of your life that needs rejuvenating and change.  The part of your life this energy focuses on is looking for you to lean into the change.  It’s a blessing to be decisive.

When you connect honestly, calmly, and with compassion for what you have gone through, and then share your truest feelings with another, no matter how distasteful that may be, you will be on this course of transformation.

For added support, this weekend Mercury goes direct in forward motion, and Mars moves into the sign of Capricorn. This mars energy gives more determination to feel capable. Capricorn energy is disciplined and moves with consistent effort to get things done to reach a goal. It starts with the first step forward, and then more steps forward, towards the same path. Scorpio energy has much desire to experience what it wants to make real.

Clearly breaking from past habits brings fresh starts. There is an wonderful opportunity to deeply heal body, mind and spirit. Transformation is what your soul is seeking now.  A new you is coming forth from darkness into the Light.  You have a vision and it calls to you from within. Let it guide you.  And so it is!
All Is Well…Blessings,

Linda Crane

Easy Tips For Physical And Mental De-Stress

October 6, 2014 by Linda Crane 2 Comments

Stop “trying” to eat healthfully START doing it 100%.  Why? because “trying” to do something can be stressful.  Feeling good and healthy is a large part of  “Living The Good Life”.  We learn about this when we aren’t feeling well.  Not eating well causes us to struggle mentally and physically. Eventually we will have to get more creative to regain what we may lose from less healthy habits. This can cause that emotional roller-coaster which produces fatigue and feeling drained from those highs and low’s. By choosing more healthy foods to keep your life on a better even track,  you can meet challenges in your daily life more “easily and stress free” to accomplish your goals.  Less stress and more peaceful living is of great value for experiencing more happiness each day.

“Easy Tips” for Physical and Mental De-Stress Each Day.

On the physical health side: It’s known that we are products of our environment, our thoughts and our habits.  “Think a thought, sow an act…Sow an act, reap the habit,…Sow the habit, reap the character,… Sow the character, reap the destiny.” (Ralph Waldo Emerson)

I like Dr. Joel Fuhrman M.D. and agree with what he says about eating nutritiously for health:

“This will take strength and effort, but the pleasure and rewards will be priceless”!

1.  “Go Cruciferous“!   Cruciferous vegetables are your best defense for fighting cancer!                     Examples: broccoli, cauliflower, kale, brussel sprouts, cabbage, bok choy, arugula, collard greens, daikon, mustard greens, kohlrabi, radishes, rutabaga, turnips, watercress.

2.  Salad is the main dish – and the secret to successful weight control and a long healthy life.

3.  Low-nutrient foods fuel overeating behavior – “Flood Your Cells With Nutrients”!

4.  Eat For Health…put an end to type II diabetes or heart disease – and get off medications!             Dr. Joel Fuhrman M.D.

For Mental De-Stressing:

Take a “5 Minute Fix of silence and quiet” to enhance your mental focus and happiness. Give your brain a chance to be off duty…by inviting more quiet into your busy life. This will assist you in being more productive while making healthier decisions.

If you lose those moments to de-stress then you also lose the chance to process and integrate things you have learned… heard… and done.  Helpful ideas show up when you turn off the noise.  Many people get good insights when taking a bath or while taking a shower without any distractions.

You’ll discover as I did that without distractions; you will have more space to think, relax, brainstorm, and enhance your ability to move toward achieving those things that make you feel happy.

The Following Points Are Helpful For Me:

1. Turn down the volume and stop living with chronic noise.

These are some small changes that give my brain the opportunity to focus and reflect, so I can make healthier decisions. When we turn down the volume we can tune into another person and experience a connection in a relationship that we can’t get from a life awash with noise, chatter, and distractions.

2. Take regular breaks from social media just 5 minutes at a time helps to allow more quiet time into my life. This helps me to be calmer and more energetic.

Constant noise around us adds to the rise of blood pressure and it affects how well we remember things too.  Studies on quiet and the brain show that in a noisy environment (ex: a crowded restaurant) affect short term memory in that it becomes overloaded, because the brain circuitry that processes recall and speech is the same one that handles noise.  Ever notice that when you are driving and you become lost you’re likely to turn down the volume on the radio?  That’s because when it’s noisy in your environment it’s tougher to concentrate and find your way.  It works the same way for trying to find your way in life…when there are too many distractions it’s harder to focus, plan properly, and delays occur for coming up with the right solutions.

If you are usually distracted by TV, background noise, or a vibrating cell phone, you miss out on your brain being off duty.  Usually when my brain is quiet I come up with those great hunches. When your brain is constantly going it is much harder to process what you have learned,  you are less attentive to what you have heard, what you have done, and your recall is not as sharp.

3. When less distracted and less stressed you’re more likely to keep up positive habits.  Here are a few ways to invest in calmness:

When you are first driving out in your car wait 5 minutes before turning on the radio.

Instead of flipping on the TV right away you can choose what to read by getting your news on line.  It’s better than being forced to process all the days distressing range of stories to watch and fear.

The following has never failed me for decades.  This is my knowing that has become my personal program so I don’t have to tune into the media hype all the time.  You may want to try my approach.  Be positive and consistent with this for it to work for you as well.

I just know and believe,  that I will find out everything I need to know… at just the right time I need to know it…and will be able to do whatever I have to do… with plenty of time to do it.

4.  Set Boundaries for yourself.  Example: Refrain from checking your phone during meals.  You’ll digest your food much better.  Without constant threats of interruptions your more inclined to do something productive for your brain like daydream to invent design your present and future.

5. Meditate which is about quieting the mind and helps you to get inspired.  In order to have new fresh ideas come to you…give your mind calm quiet moments.  Take deep…relaxing…slow…belly breathes in through your nose…and out through your mouth…to experience calmness, and feel more centered. This will enhance your health and focus.

And when you are eating foods packed with nutrients, and include the mental habits to achieve happiness and calm; you’ll become more inspired and productive. Your brain will love it too.

Life’s small moments can only add up to something more meaningful when you give yourself the chance to reflect on them!

Illusion And Life’s Earthly Journey

October 1, 2014 by Linda Crane Leave a Comment

I have learned on my spiritual path that “everything” is a projection of the mind, and until one transcends while in one’s earthly body, awakening from the life path of cause and effect, or what is also known as Karma, we are subjected to those continual thoughts and experiences of mind. And the senses are feeding back to us, thinking and believing that all we have been taught is real.

One’s transcendence from ignorance, to wisdom, to awakening, being one with the Light, occurs by perfecting ourselves in earthly lives so to merge back again with the True Source of our being.  We are all learning and growing in ‘Schoolhouse Earth’ and on the road to this evolution.  Each one of us through our life circumstances, is developing and growing in this direction through the vicissitudes of life, to merge and unite back with “Consciousness”,  for our personal evolution is the only game in town… and is what we will eventually come to experience. (Vicissitudes, are changes of circumstances or fortune, typically one that is unwelcome or unpleasant).

This Poem “Illusion”, reminds me about the Grand Lela, which says that this life is a play within a larger Grand Play, of which the mystic teaching of Vedanta have also spoken of Maya, meaning illusion; since our minds construct a subjective experience, which we are in peril of interpreting as reality. We are all Divinely fueled by “One Spirit”.

I’m also reminded of what has been known as a children’s song, but to me this song is so deep and has a great deal of meaning to it.

“Row Row Row your boat… gently down the stream, merrily, merrily merrily, life is but a dream”!!!

ILLUSION

God and I in space alone
And nobody else in view.
“And where are the people, O Lord,” I said,
“The earth below, and the sky o’er head
And the dead whom once I knew?”

“That was a dream,” God smiled and said,
“A dream that seemed to be true.
There were no people, living or dead,
There was no earth, and no sky o’er head
There was only myself – in you.”

“Why do I feel no fear,” I asked,
“Meeting you here this way,
For I have sinned I know full well,
And is there heaven, and is there hell,
And is this the judgment day?”

“Nay, those were but dreams,” the Great God said,
“Dreams, that have ceased to be.
There are no such things as fear or sin,
There is no you – you never have been –
There is nothing at all but ME.”

“Yet so strong was the urge that I arose, went to my desk, and took up my pen and began to write. I was perfectly conscious, yet my mortal brain certainly had nothing to do with what my pen wrote down. It was as if some one thought for me. I watched my hand form the words with interest, as I would have watched a friend write. This is the poem which came under those peculiar conditions. It is the only experience of the kind which ever befell me. And oddly enough, it is the only one of my thousands of verses which I was ever able completely memorize and never forget. Whoever wrote it through me helps me to recall it.”   (Ella Wheeler Wilcox)
